Details that had seemed confusing now appeared connected.

Still, recognition did not answer the question of arrival. That unresolved element continued to make the event strange. It is often easier to accept an unusual animal outdoors because its presence has an obvious environmental explanation. Indoors, people immediately search for an entry point. When none is visible, uncertainty remains. A small mystery can therefore persist long after the animal itself is gone.

It is possible to acknowledge that mystery without turning speculation into fact. The creature could theoretically have reached the room through several pathways, but no pathway was observed. It could have been transported inadvertently. It might have entered from an opening elsewhere. Other possibilities may exist depending on the building and local environment. None can be selected confidently from the information available.

The same principle applies to the fear that somebody may have stepped on or touched it. The thought occurred because the creature was small and easy to overlook. But there is no evidence in the account establishing that such contact occurred. What the concern reveals is how uncertainty affects imagination. Once an unexpected organism is noticed, the mind starts reconstructing the period before it was discovered.
