My father became seriously ill.
The energetic, strong man I had always depended on gradually became weaker. Hospital visits became more frequent, and eventually doctors informed us that his condition was worsening.
During his final days, I rarely left his side.
One evening, I sat beside his hospital bed holding his hand while we talked about old memories. We laughed about childhood stories and reflected on the many adventures we had shared.

My heart immediately began racing.
I searched his face for clues.
What secret could possibly remain after all these years?
Had he hidden something about my mother? Was there a family mystery I had never known? Why wait until now to tell me?
The room felt completely silent.
I leaned closer.
For a moment, he closed his eyes and gathered his strength before continuing.
