An Imagination Library may well be one of the legacies.
Dolly wanted to live longer than she did before her death.
She also left a message for the children receiving the program’s final books, encouraging them to read, pursue big dreams and care about others.
The program has distributed more than 300 million books to children around the world, And Dolly’s family wants that mission to continue even after she is gone.
Even more remarkably, Dolly had prepared works that would appear after her death.
She had recorded a secret song called My Place In History, written in 2015 and locked away for release in 2046, when Dolly would have turned 100..
She also wanted the Broadway musical about her life to continue being produced even if she were no longer there to see it.
