6. Pinguecula and Pterygium

These are growths on the surface of the eye, often related to sun exposure.

Pinguecula:

  • Yellowish bump on the white of the eye
  • Does not grow onto the cornea

Pterygium:

  • Fleshy growth that can extend over the cornea
  • May affect vision in severe cases

Causes:

  • UV exposure
  • Dry, dusty, or windy environments

Symptoms:

  • Redness
