Baja California has historically depended on shared water resources and vulnerable hydraulic systems. Among these, the Colorado River stands out, and its use has been the subject of negotiations and recurring tensions between Mexico and the United States.
If the production of desalinated water increases significantly, Baja California could partially reduce its dependence on that source.
